Warehouse & Production Updates
Let me start with a sincere thank you for everyones support over the years. We have had a fantastic start, some ups and downs, some weird stuff happening. The community that has grown around ONYX and the RCR, CTY, and LZR lines has been amazing and is the truly what makes ONYX more than just a bike company.
Now for some serious stuff. We want to address some of the information and misinformation that has been disseminated online regarding ONYX bikes and its business in general.
First, yes, we have moved some manufacturing overseas, to China. The LZR has always been fully assembled in China. The RCR and CTY2, as of around June of 2023, have been subassembled in China with finishing and final packing in the US. What this means is that we receive an 80% complete bike that we add a battery, charger, paperwork, and accessories as well as perform a full QC check of all the bits and pieces. This is a very standard arrangement for manufacturing ebikes.
Second, the delays. Due to some unfortunate decisions that were made, the manufacturer we partnered with in China is less capable and efficient as we had expected. We were expecting a reduction in costs and production time with an increase in quality. Unfortunately this did not work out as planned.
We are truly doing everything we can to work with this manufacturer to at least complete the current runs we have in production but there have been many complications along the way including everything from international shipping issues, changes in tax and tariff, and even petty personality conflicts. This is all going to change. We will not let this continue like this and will do everything we can to get us out of this situation and this business arrangement. In the mean time, we sincerely apologize for the delays and we are trying our best to resolve everyones situation as expediently as possible
And finally, the business. There has been some rumors and misinformation floating around out there regarding our health as a company. Yes, we do admit we are struggling with some internal issues. There was a posting regarding our facility being listed for rent. Yes, we are moving. As mentioned earlier, we have moved a bulk of the manufacturing overseas. As such, we do not have a need for such a large space and will be moving to a smaller location with more of an actual storefront feeling with service center for bike finishing, general service, and performance upgrades.
We are looking forward to the new location and hope to celebrate it with a big old party and ride out. Over the next few weeks, as we make this transition, we will be available for contact by all means. We will continue to provide tech support and service calls as we always have. We will be shipping out bikes the literal hour they come in. What we will be lacking for a brief time is a physical location for you to come to for bike drop off or test rides. Repairs and service will still be avalable but we are working out the details of how that will play out. We will provide a follow up with details of how we will be dealing with service and upgrade bikes. We will also be keeping you all as best informed on the status of your orders as we can with the information we have available. Hang tight and thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Thanks, ONYX Motorbikes management
